LMS Curriculum Builder

Problem: Inkling’s course library was built for single, standalone courses. Customers started asking for a way to group courses together into a “Curriculum”.

Solution: My PM, researcher, and I went to work designing something that could work across all our customers and maintained the simplicity of the original design.

Old Course Library Design

No organization, no way to group courses together. If a customer had many many courses, this page was a chaotic mess.

New Course Library Design

After 3 rounds of user testing, users can see what’s in progress, what isn’t yet started, and can tell instantly what is a curriculum and what isn’t.

Research

While I didn’t stay at Inkling long enough to see the Curriculum project come to fruition, I’m pleased with the research process put together by our UX researcher, Kathryn, and seen through by my product manager and I.
